The photo contest received 3000 entries from Nepali and International, young and old photographers who portrayed their many perspectives on Nepal. Out of the 3,000 entries, 80 were chosen for the final round and were displayed at SAG at the same event [break]
The grand winner, Susheel Shrestha was awarded a camera and other gift hampers worth Rs 1,65,000. The contest had four categories to portray Nepal, Nepali people and their different aspects.
The category winners who also won gift hamper worth Rs 15,000 that included rebate hapers among others; Deepak Tolange for the category ‘Sundar Nepal’ and ‘Nepal Aaja’, Rameshwor Maharjan for ‘Nepali Rangharu’ and Deepak Shrestha for the category ‘Mero Cell Phone/Compact Camera Bata’. Along with the winners, 17 other photographers also received honorable mention awards.
The contest was a creative platform for photographers to present their different and out of the box portrays of the culture, tradition, geography, flora, the Himalayas, climate, festivals, the poverty and the happiness of the people and everything else that symbolizes Nepal and the Nepali people.
Kailash K. Shrestha, director of Artudio mentioned that the contest turned out to be very successful and the entries exceeded their expectation. He also added that the fact that it inspired so many amateur to professional photographers of all ages to showcase their talent and their perspectives on Nepal was a proud moment for Artudio.
The exhibition of the 80 finalist photos will be on display at SAG till April 10.
