Addressing a function organized by National Police Academy, Maharajgunj, on the occasion of 57th Police Day, PM Bhattarai said maintaining peace and security at a time of political transition can´t be imagined without the active and fair participation of police. [break]
While asking all rank and files of police to be dutiful, Prime Minister Bhattarai said, “Government will provide full protection to competent and honest police officers so they must not brook any kind of unwanted pressure.”
Focusing on a zero tolerance policy of the government against financial irregularities and illegal activities, he asked all police personnel to discharge their duties with full honesty.
He also assured to expedite the stalled process of forming a police welfare commission and building infrastructure required by the police.
Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Home Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar said the government seeks citizen friendly policing throughout the country. He also promised merit based promotions and transfers of police officials and to resolve legal complications face by the police.
PM Bhattarai felicitated former IGP Hem Bahadur Singh with a lifetime achievement award, DIG Surendra Bahadur Shah with Police Baton award and DSP Tek Prasad Rai with Purna Shanti Puraskar.
The function was attended by government officials and heads of other security forces.
