The state-run petroleum utility will use the grant to pay its outstanding dues to Indian Oil Corporation which has curtailed fuel supply in the recent days demanding that NOC pay the dues first. [break]
The cabinet also decided to give momentum to the task of selling or leasing out the land owned by public enterprises by formulating necessary guidelines.
The cabinet decision will allow Guthi Sansthan and other corporations to sell their land for internal use.
The meeting also decided to forward the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works’ proposal to build and operate Mechi-Mahakali electric railway to the infrastructure commitee of the cabinet for discussion, according to government spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokharel.
Pokharel also said the cabinet also agreed to give final shape to the proposal on linking Kathmandu and Pokhara with electric railway line after detailed discussion in the committee concerned.
The cabinet also decided to ban logging of trees for four months without affecting development works, take forward the process of formation of small enterprises and cottage industry promotion board and increase the salary of living gods and goddesses of Kathmandu Valley – Kumari, Sriganesh and Sribhairav – by 25 percent.
Law Minister Prem Bahadur Singh said the cabinet also granted permission to receive Rs 840 million Swiss aid for district roads project.
