Govt starts constructing houses for Chepangs

HETAUDA, Aug 17: The government has started construction of 125 new houses targeting the people from the poor Chepang community in six villages in the western part of Chitwan district.



The construction is under the second phase of the People´s Housing Program launched by the government. [break]



The houses are to be constructed at Sarikhet Palanse, Kankada, Bharta, Manahari, Basamadi and Raksirang.



An all-party meeting chaired by the Chief District Officer recently selected these villages for house construction.



The government has allocated a budget of Rs. 24.7 million for the Building and Technology Research Training Center, Hetauda for the implementation of the second phase program.



Voluntary labour equivalent to Rs. 10,000 from each family is a must to construct the buildings, it is learnt.



The construction is expected to be completed within the end of this year, said Center´s Acting Chief Prabin Tandan.
