The former crown prince had been provided a 10-member APF security detail until the Tiger Tops firing incident.[break]
"The ministry has not sent the APF team following the Tiger Tops firing," an MoHA official told Republica. "There is no plan to re-depute the security detail in the near future as well."
"The ministry will not, in any circumstances, re-send those APF men unless a fresh decision is made by the cabinet," added the official.
However, the official did not rule out the possibility of sending security personnel for Shah´s security in case of any security threat against him and if the latter makes a formal request to the ministry.
In an earlier development, Nepal Army (NA) that used to remain loyal to the palace until the abolition of monarchy three years ago had indicated it was in no mood to reassign army personnel for Shah´s security.
Captain Saroj Thapa, who used to command a seven-member security detail for Shah, has already been deputed to the army´s Valley Division. In the wake of the incident, Thapa and his subordinates were withdrawn and they faced a Court of Inquiry for possible security breach at the time of the incident.
Shah, on December 11, had fired a shot in the air at the Tiger Tops Resort inside the Chitwan National Park following an altercation with Rubel Chowdhury, the son-in-law of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sujata Koirala.
Shah´s security team had escorted Chowdhury -- a Bangladeshi national -- and his family to another part of the hotel premises follwoing the incident.
The firing incident had also co-incidentally unraveled Chowdhury´s involvement in passport and phone call bypass rackets.
