KATHMANDU, Nov 29: The government has promoted five Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) of Nepal Police to the post of Additional Inspector General (AIG) on the basis of seniority on Thursday.

A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar promoted DIGs Ganga Pandey, Ramesh Bikram Shah, Dinkar Shamsher Rana, Puskar Nath Regmi and Binod Singh to the post of AIG, Minister for Information and Communications Raj Kishor Yadav informed.[break]

Four posts of AIG had been lying vacant since the last two months as the then Inspector General (IG) Rabindra Pratap Shah along with four other AIGs retired the same day.

Promoted police officers along with IG Kuber Singh Rana had entered the service on the same day and would retire together.

Promotion of DIGs was in limbo due to a rift between  IG Rana and Minister for Home Affairs Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar.

Meanwhile, the meeting has also appointed Madan Kharel as the General Manager of the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) and Anil Kumar Jha as the Director of Janak Education Material Centre Ltd.
