The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has forwarded the proposal to the cabinet for approval. A cabinet meeting to be held on Friday will decide whether or not to approve the 14-day holiday from Ghatasthapana to Kojagrat Purnima.
Laxmi Dhakal, spokesperson of MoHA, said that the ministry forwarded the holiday proposal to tempt people to leave the capital early and reduce consumption of petroleum products and other essential goods in the face of the embargo imposed by India for over two weeks. There used to be just six days public holiday for Dashain festival.
