KATHMANDU, July 14: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) has warned of a moderate to high risk of flash floods in 44 districts across the country today.
The DHM said water levels in small rivers flowing through Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Udayapur, Sindhuli, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kavrepalanchok, Makwanpur, Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi and surrounding areas are expected to rise, increasing the risk of flash floods.

It also forecast a moderate risk of flash flooding in small rivers flowing through Gorkha, Lamjung, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West, Palpa, Parbat, Myagdi, Pyuthan, Rolpa, Dang, Salyan, Banke, Bardiya, Kailali and nearby districts.
Small rivers flowing through Chitwan, Tanahun, Kaski, Syangja, Surkhet and surrounding districts are also likely to experience flash flooding, the department said. Flood expert Binod Parajuli has urged the public to remain alert, warning that water levels in small rivers across all seven provinces could rise further on Wednesday and Thursday.
