Govt employee unions stage sit-in against minister's assault

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: Various government employee unions staged a sit-in demonstration in front of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives inside Singha Durbar on Wednesday against state minister Karima Begum´s assault on Parsa Chief District Officer Durga Prasad Bhandari.


According to our correspondent Bimal Gautam, the unions started their demonstration at 9.30 a.m. Wednesday for two hours. They are demanding action against the minister and have said no one can assault a civil servant.



On Tuesday, Begum, minister of state in the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives slapped CDO Bhandari five times at the latter´s office for sending an "old" vehicle to pick her up from the Simara airport.
