The Minstry of Finance has allocated Rs 300 million for infrastructure development for the 13th South Asian Games (SAG). The amount will be used to construct international level stadium, multipurpose covered hall and sports academy.
Similarly, the ministry has allocated Rs 210 million for the under-construction physical infrastructure. Mulpani Cricket Stadium and Bhairahawa cricket ground have been allocated a total of Rs 50 million. The ministry has also announced to set up a high-altitude center in Jiri and Lukla. [break]
Similarly, the ministry has decided to run a local youth partnership program. Budget has been allocated for setting up a youth information center and youth mobilization under this program. It also plans to draft and implement sports code of conduct.
The ministry has also allocated budget for the President´s Running Shield under school sports program, blind and deaf cricket and table tennis and paralympics. However, the amount has not been specified.
The government has allocated a budget of Rs 1.265 billion for the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS). The amount is almost double the budget allocated last fiscal year.
A total of Rs 1.26 billion has been allocated for recurrent expenditure while Rs 5.5 million has been allocated for capital expenditure. In the fiscal year 2069/70 Rs 661.6 million had been allocated under the head of recurrent expenditure and Rs 661,000 under capital expenditure.
For the fiscal year 2068/69 a total of Rs 868.3 million had been allocated, of which Rs 818.4 million was under recurrent expenditure and Rs 49.8 million under capital expenditure.
