According to the CIB, GOIP is advanced form of Voice over Internet Protocol (VOIP) used with the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) technologies.
According to the police, Basnet was operating GOIP for the last four months from a rented room in the house of Purna Bahadur Shrestha at Itahari-8.
“As the seized devices used in the call bypass are sophisticated ones, we will have to consult experts,” said CIB. Basnet said that he was lured into operating GOIP by a Bangladeshi national Abdul Hussein. Basnet was using Nepal Telecom and Ncell SIM to bypass calls.
