According to the Metropolitan Police Range Office, Hanumandhoka the girl, identified as Nisha Subedi, 13, a seventh-grader at Trungram International School, died while undergoing treatment at TUTH Maharajgunj. Subedi breathed her last within an hour of the incident, according to her family members. [break]
The two injured girls have been discharged after treatment, the police said. The injured are, Sujata Gautam, 12, of Galfutar and Kareena Kunwar, 14, of Bishnu Budhanilkantha.
“An investigation has been initiated to establish why the wall gave way,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivan Kumar Shrestha, chief at Metropolitan Police Circle Office Maharajgunj.
Citing eyewitness, the police said that the three girls were heading towards Bishnumati River from Budhanilkantha, walking along the wall. According to the family sources, the girls had left to have fun on the national holiday.
The police said that the wall was in a dilapidated condition and collapsed because of the rainfall. According to the post mortem report, Subedi´s chest and abdomen were seriously smashed.
