Gautam had won praises seven months ago when he fulfilled his commitment to print SLC papers in the country and bring reforms in the examination system.[break]
The move to print SLC question papers in Nepal was initiated with the aim of ensuring safety and secrecy while publishing the question papers.
The government cited several grounds for honoring Gautam.
He succeeded in printing the SLC question papers in Nepal while maintaining safety and secrecy and published SLC results for the year 2067 BS within the stipulated deadline. Gautam also successfully sent SLC mark sheets to schools throughout the country within two months. He has also been credited for free and fair SLC exams.
Gautam has become the first civil servant among 87,000 government employees to get such a prestigious award in the history of Nepali bureaucracy.
The government also awarded 40 other government employees. Of the total, 10 government employees bagged a purse of Rs 100,000 each while 30 government officials took home Rs 50,000 each.

Addressing the function, Prime Minister Dr Bhattarai urged the government employees to combat corruption. “I urge the government officials to combat corruption from today itself,” he said. “The state will provide security to government officials who visit the doors of the general public to deliver services.”
