AFK, which regularly organizes documentary screenings, this time will show 10 movies on three different themes – music, fashion, and Himalayan stories. “Previously, we organized several documentary screenings according to the organization’s time convenience,” the Deputy Director of AFK Prabin Rana said. “This time, we’ve concentrated on November as this particular month is being celebrated as “the month of documentaries” by Alliance Francaise offices worldwide.”
Helping AFK with the screenings are Namuna College of Fashion Technology (NCFT) and Nepal Music Center (NMC). Movies on musical figures such as Carla Bruni, Manu Chao, and Bob Sinclar will be screened in partnership with NMC while fashion lovers will be able to witness the inside story of the late famous French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent at NCFT in Bansbari.
For the first time, “Sherpas, the True Heroes of Mount Everest” directed by Hari Thapa and two Swiss directors, Frank Senn and Otto C. Honegger will be screened in the premises of AFK in Teku. Stories on the legends of Yeti and religious ceremonies of Mustang will also be screened under the theme of Himalayan stories.
All the screening will be followed by discussions with the directors or the concerned people involved in the respective themes.
