France deports Gajurel's daughter to Belgium

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Ignoring requests from human rights organizations, France deported the daughter of top Maoist leader CP Gajurel to the Belgian authorities, according to news reports.


Gajurel’s daughter Shova was arrested on July 16 in France for traveling without valid documents. Shova was seeking asylum from the French government, claiming her life was under threat in Nepal.



The daughter of the in-charge of the international affairs of the Unified CPN (Maoist) was handed over to Belgian authorities on Monday, according to Jana Astha weekly. She is being detained in Belgium, the report states.



She was traveling to the France-Belgium border to meet friends when she was arrested.
