Four more policemen under investigation

BIRATNAGAR, June 21: Police have initiated investigation into four more police personnel in connection with the attack on Biratnagar-based Republica journalist Khilanath Dhakal.



The move comes after the nexus between Deputy Superintendent of Police Sahakul Thapa and Parshuram Basnet, the mastermind behind the attack on journalist Dhakal, came to light. [break]



According to Nepal Police spokesperson DIG Nawa Raj Dhakal, four police personnel including sub-inspector Subash Khanal, two head constables and a follower serving at Morang District Police Office have been summoned to Nepal Police Headquarters for investigation. DIG Dhakal said it is too early to comment whether they had nexus with Basnet as investigation is still under way



Talking to Republica, Morang District Police Office Chief Pradyumna Karki said they have devised new strategy to nab Basnet, who is absconding, as he managed to dodge arrest due to intelligence leak by some unscrupulous police personnel.



Meanwhile, police investigation against DSP Thapa is still under way.



According to chief of Koshi Zonal Police Office SSP Mingmar Lama, they have asked for telephone call details after completing preliminary investigation into Thapa.
