Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, Chairman of Freedom Forum Taranath Dahal said the death of Bhattarai, who fought for the promotion of press and freedom of expression by establishing Nepal Journalists´ Association for the first time in country, has saddened the campaigners of free press and freedom of expression.
"All followers of democracy have been saddened by the demise of Bhattarai who played a decisive role to make the People´s Movement-1990 successful and helped in settling the difficult transitional phase following the movement by formulating the new constitution within one year," read the release.
The constitution promulgated with the contribution of Kishunji for the first time ensured freedom of press and expression that guaranteed people´s right to be informed, it says.
"The death of Bhattarai, is an irreparable loss to the country and Nepalis" Freedom Forum pays its heartfelt tribute to the late leader Bhattarai."
