Forge consensus, Oli tells govt

KATHMANDU, May 14: CPN-UML leader KP Oli has urged the government to move ahead on the basis of political consensus.



At a function organized on Saturday, on the occasion of the anniversary of Youth Federation Nepal, he said the government without forging consensus with parties is trying to extend the Constituent Assembly’s term.[break]



“We knew about the government’s proposal to extend the CA tenure through televisions. It didn’t consult the main opposition party,” he said.



If the government goes ahead on the basis of two-third majority, it will invite a confrontation, he said terming the government CA extension proposal a move to stick to power.



The government should have taken all parties into confidence before bringing in the proposal to extend the CA tenure, he added.
