KATHMANDU, May 5: Ramji Dahal, a contender for the post of general secretary of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), on Thursday, expressed strong dissatisfaction over vote result announced by FNJ Election Committee.

Issuing a press statement, Dahal complained that the committee did not respond to his petition for vote recount. He had claimed there were irregularities in vote counting.

Dahal, a candidate from Nepali Congress aligned Nepal Press Union was defeated by Om Sharma of Maoist-affiliated Revolutionary Journalists Association by a margin of just three votes.

While Sharma secured a total 605 votes, Dahal bagged 602 votes.

Dahal has urged the committee to help remove suspicion by recounting the votes.

“I firmly believe that the Election Committee formed by Federation of Nepalese Journalists that believes in democratic norms and values will respect my right to information and inform me of the real number of votes I secured by recounting the votes,” he said in the statement.
