BIRATNAGAR, July 28: At least 200 families in Morang district have been affected due to floods in the Chisyang and Bakraha rivers during this rainy season, said Water Induced Disaster Control Office, Biratnagar.

The rivers inundated a large plot of arable land in Hokalabari, Darbesha, Bardanga and other VDCs as well. [break]

Engineer of the office, Rajendra Mahato, said that all the rivers in the district cannot be managed completely due to paltry budget allocated by the government. This year, the government has allocated Rs. 6.3 million though Rs. 3 billion was estimated for the construction of embankments at all rivers in the district.

Likewise, as a master plan to construct the embankments in the Bakraha River, the government has allocated Rs. 25 million.
