Fleeing criminal nabbed

DHARAN, Jan 17: Police on Sunday arrested a criminal five days after he fled from custody of Area Police Office, Dharan. The police arrested Udaya Kumar Limbu, 18, who had fled last Tuesday night from Teentoliya in Biratnagar-13.



Limbu, who hails from Rabi-5 of Panchthar, was arrested on the basis of a tip-off from an informer, police said. Chief of Area Police Office, Dharan, Avadesh Bista said they were able to arrest him when he had gone to his sister and lover´s rented room on Sunday morning. Police also recovered a khukuri, two hacksaws and nine mobile phone sets from him.



Policeman Shyam Shah has been released from custody after Limbu´s arrest, Bista said.



Limbu, who was involved in several cases of theft and robbery, was arrested with an airgun on January 9 and had fled two days later. He had also fled from Area Police Office, Itahari, last June after being arrested with an American pistol. Police claim that Limbu has links with Indian robbers and is also a drug dealer.



Meanwhile, Bista handed over Rs 2,500 each to police constable Akalu Rajbanshi and policeman Lekhnath Shrestha for their role in nabbing Limbu.
