Fire engulfs resort in Solukhumbu

SOLUKHUMBU, July 16: A huge fire has broken out at the Yeti Mountain Resort at Fakding, Chaurikharka VDC-9, in Sulukhumbu district since Tuesday morning.



The resort, operated by Thamserku Trekking Office, caught fire at around 8:30, said Indrahang Rai, a local. The fire had already engulfed the kitchen, dining room, stores, and the staff-room. [break]



Five police personnel from the Area Police Office, Chaurikharka, seven Airport Security Guards and Nepal Army personnel from Sagarmatha National Park were airlifted to bring the blazing fire under control, according to police.



It is suspected that the resort caught fire after the LP Gas cylinder exploded while preparing meal.The Trekking Office has been running different seven resorts in Lukla, Fakdin, Manju, Namche, Thame, and Kongde in the district.
