KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Authorities have begun assessing the damage caused by a fire that broke out in Budhanilkantha Municipality–13, Chunikhel, Kathmandu.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Kaushal Kumar Budhathoki of the Kathmandu District Police Range, the fire started at around 11 pm on Tuesday due to an electrical short circuit and gutted two tin-roofed sheds in the Chunikhel settlement. “We suspect the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit. Rescue operations, including the evacuation of people, were carried out during the night. Damage assessment work has begun this morning,” DSP Budhathoki said.
Police said seven people were rescued from the affected area, and no human casualties were reported.
