Film Development Board padlocked

KATHMANDU, Jan. 9: Various nine associations of the cine artists on Wednesday padlocked the Film Development Board in an effort to exert pressure on the government for the appointments of officials in the posts lying vacant in the Board for long.



The delay in appointment of new officials in the Board has affected formation of necessary policies for the development of film sector, said the association´s representatives.



They have demanded the appointments of experienced persons in a transparent manner.



On the occasion, former Chairperson of Nepal Film Producer´s Association, Bashundhara Bhushal said the government needs to increase investment in the film sector in order to promote language, literature and culture of the country.



Similarly, Association´s Chairman Raj Kumar Rai said the film industry should be respected and transparent. The Board therefore needs the vacant posts fulfilled soon, he argued.
