Fighting jailbirds sent to other jails

KATHMANDU, Jan 21: Inmates of Dillibazaar prison, who were engaged in a gangfight on Wednesday that left five injured, were transferred to prisons in Ramechhap, Dolakha and Nuwakot on Friday, an official at the prison said.



Two gangs serving time in the prison started the flight Wednesday afternoon. Two were left with broken legs, while three received minor injuries. [break]



According to a prison source, a total of 11 prisoners were transferred on Friday.



The gangfight took place between members of a gang led by Dipendra Rai and another led by Naveen Gupta. Rai and Mahesh Adhikari fractrured their legs during the fight. Both are undergoing treatment at the Bir Hospital.



Rai is serving term for drug trafficking while Gupta is serving term for kidnapping.
