Embracing EVs for Sustainable Future

The introduction of EVs has revolutionized the market in the recent years. Those cute things, though not very easy on the eyes of those used to the sleekness of regular cars, have managed to win many hearts because of its efficiency and uses. Three times faster than internal combustion engines, EVs are the growing trend in the motor market for this particular reason and more. Apart from being an eco-friendly vehicle, there are other fascinating features attached to the motor.

Companies like Tesla, Mercedes, BMW and Volkswagen have been ahead in the market with various models of the electric cars. Tesla, in particular, has been delivering high-end electric luxury cars. The German company Porsche has just announced its four-door luxury model Mission E challenging the EV leader Tesla and another German company Audi is right in line. There are several other popular companies that offer EV services like Nissan, Fiat, Kia, Mitsubishi, Ford, and Chevrolet. And most companies like McLaren, Porsche, Audi, Honda and Toyota already have their hybrid models out in the market.

Mahindra Reva e2o
In a country where cars are luxury items, EVs meet a new challenge. However in the recent years, banks and finances have made it easy with loans and finance facilities to acquire the vehicles. To think that major cities like Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Butwal are swamped with vehicles emitting a lot of smoke and noise, EVs are the proper solution to curb the problem. But unfortunately, there aren’t many options for EVs available here.

The only EV we can find is Mahindra Reva and every six months, it comes updated with more gadgets, making it more efficient and better.

On a five hour charging time, it gives around 120 kilometers. If you run out of battery, then its REVive® feature allows you to use the reserve battery power. It will add another 7 kilometers to reach your destination or the nearest place for you to charge the machine.
It comfortably fits four people, and features wide-angle reverse camera, making that parking experience easy and sweet. Its battery is guaranteed to last at least seven years.

However, in a city with constant load shedding, one may wonder how it will be possible to charge it whenever the battery is low. It also needs a long time to be charged, compared to the fuel consuming vehicles. The batteries need to be changed at one point or the other, and that’s an added cost. And the bigger problem is that there isn’t an electric fueling station unlike the abundant petrol pumps, making it difficult for a long ride.

But that’s nothing compared to the contribution towards the environment. Emission free and relying on electricity? It’s not that bad. Plus the technology is supposed to be better in the coming days, and you might want to consider its long-term benefits rather than short-term inconveniences.
