End use of weapons in politics: Prez

HELAMBU, June 6: President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has called on the political parties to quit politics of violence and begin politics of peace in the country.



“The political parties have the responsibility to end the use of weapons in politics and begin the politics of principle,” Yadav said while speaking at a function in Helambu on Monday.



Yadav argued that peaceful politics would lay the foundation for institutionalizing republican set up in the country. He urged the political parties to meet the challenges of transitional phase and conclude the peace process and constitution drafting on time. “The new constitution should be all-inclusive and guarantee the rights of the minorities,” Yadav said.



Noting that the country has already gone republic, the president said, it is the responsibility of the state to protect the rights of all religions and cultures. On a different note, Yadav said Helambu, which is known as the city of monasteries, can make contribution for tourism development in Nepal. “It can be interesting for researchers to explore monasteries here,” he said.
