KATHMANDU, April 26: Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has urged the political parties to come to an understanding and avoid strike that the UCPN (Maoist) has threatened to launch from May 2.

Issuing a press statement on Monday, it has also appealed the parties not to launch strike that affect industries and businesses, especially in the present gloom wherein exports have gone down and industries are folding up due to fluid security and political situation. [break]

“The industrial sector of the country is already going through a rough patch and economy is reeling under huge balance of payment deficit. And repeated banda, transportation strike, power shortage, liquidity crunch and labor problems have already rendered our industries sick,” CNI has said, emphasizing that the domestic industries and economy as a whole is not in a position to bear yet another agitation.

It has also appealed all the political parties to find the way out of the present political deadlock.
