Assistant coach Jagat Tamata along with Saurav Khanal, Avinash Karn and Ram Naresh Giri will leave for Australia on Friday to join the Nepali U-19 cricket team for the U-19 World Cup scheduled to begin from August 11. [break]
Earlier, the Australian embassy had refused visas to Khanal, Karn and Giri saying they were minors. The embassy had asked the parents of the players to sign in their visa application forms as they are still minors.
Coach Pubudu Dassanayake, team manager Kiran Rana, Captain Prithu Baskota and other 11 players had left for Australia on Friday.
Nepali U-19 team had played a friendly match against a local club of Darwin on July 29 and faced an 89-run defeat. Nepal U-19 team will play its next friendly on August 3 at the same venue. Nepal will play its warm-up matches against Papua New Guinea and New Zealand at Brisbane.
Nepal will play against Australia on August 13 at Tony Ireland Stadium (TIS), Townsville and take on Ireland on August 15 at Endeavour Park 1. Nepal will face England on August 16 at TIS.
