Draft for new constitution within six months: NC Prez

KATHMANDU, Aug 18: The major political forces including Unified CPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (UML), and United Democratic Madhesi Front have agreed to prepare the draft for the new constitution within the six months of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election.



Addressing a tea reception programme organized by the Democratic University Teachers´ Union Nepal on its eighth anniversary day, here Sunday, he said the NC has joined the electoral process with a view to maintaining peace and prosperity.[break]



Similarly, former Prime Minister, Sher Bahadur Deuba, said the new constitution from the first CA was not promulgated as the NC was not in the decisive position.



Leader Deuba said the current government has been making unnecessary interference in the education sector, claiming that NC had never interfered on the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor, Rector, Dean and other senior level posts of the universities.



Other participants of the programme said that there should not be government and political interference in the education sector.



Chairman of the University Teachers´ Union, Bashudev Ghimire, said the national development was only possible through democratic system of rule.
