When his offer was declined, he insisted, “It is monsoon time. Children might catch cold. Take home some syrup.”
The DPHO is swamped with medicines it had bought after the government declared free primary healthcare to all. The medicine is meant to be supplied free of cost to health posts under the government´s program.
“Not only have the stores, meeting hall and all the passages of DPHO been occupied with medicines, most of the medicines provided by the Ministry of Health (MoH) to be distributed free of cost to health posts in Kathmandu remain unused,” said Acting Chief of DPHO Babar Gurung.
The DPHO also provides free medicines for health camps in Kathmandu.
“Some costly medicines have been kept outside the building. It might be stolen, but we have no space to store it,” Gurung said.
