Issuing a press release on Monday, Cement Manufacturers Association of Nepal (CMAN) urged the government, political parties, and other stakeholders to resolve the ongoing crisis at the earliest and create environment wherein private sector can do their business and operate industries without fear.Stating that cement industries across the country has not been able operate at full capacity for the six months due to earthquake and other protests, Dhruba Thapa, president of CMAN, said most of cement industries have not been able to produce cement and some are not finding market for their products. He also said majority of cement factories are finding it difficult to pay their workers. "If the scenario continues for some more days, it will cause huge economic damage to the country," he added.
CMAN has also urged agitating parties and groups not to interrupt the operation of any industries across the country and allow them to import raw materials without any disturbance.
Stating that industries have been suffering financial loss for the past six months, CMAN has also urged the government to provide discount on different duties.
