Don Lama in custody as he fails to submit Rs.30 million bail

KATHMANDU, July 18: The Special Court on Thursday sent gangster Ganesh Lama to Dilli Bazar Sadarkhor Jail, after he failed to submit a bail amount of Rs 30 million.



A three-member bench of the Special Court’s Chairman Kedar Prasad Chalise and members Bhupendra Prasad Rai and Mohan Raman Bhattarai issued the order after hearings on whether or not to send Lama into judicial custody. [break]



Lama was sent to Singh Durbar Police sector on Wednesday after the court could not complete hearings on whether or not he should be sent into judicial custody. He has been accused of illegally amassing Rs 270 million through extortion, illegal contracts and banking transactions, among other illegal activities.
