"They tried to enter the cantonment saying they were evicted under the directives of foreign powers. They used abusive language against the PLA," said Nar Bahadur Pun, acting division commander at the sixth division. [break]
The PLA division has accused Surkhet district in-charge Krishna Prasad Dhamal of inciting the disqualified combatants to enter the cantonments.
"We maintained restraint, so no untoward incident occurred," said Pun.
The PLA division has accused Dhamala of inviting some 30 disqualified combatants from Humla, Mugu, Banke, and Bardiya and training them at Shikhar Higher Secondary School at Ramghat. The group had gone straight to the cantonment arguing they have the right to stay there.
Dhamal said he had interacted with the disqualified personnel but argued that he had not directed them to enter the cantonment.
"The friends stated that they wanted to launch a struggle for their rights. And I advised them to go ahead with restraint and not disturb the peace process and constitution drafting," Dhamal said.
As many as 4,008 combatants were disqualified by the UNMIN during verification. They are currently in the process of being rehabilitated.
