BAGLUGN, Feb 15: Transport services have been obstructed for a second straight day in Dhaulagiri zone Wednesday due to the strike called by transport entrepreneurs.

The bus, jeep and taxi operators have enforced the strike for an indefinite period in Dhaulagiri since Tuesday protesting the registration of a parallel transport association named Burtiwan Transport Entrepreneurs’ Committee. [break]

Thousands of passengers have been stranded on the road and import and export of daily commodities have been severely affected due to the strike.

Kumar Khadka, chairman of Dhaulagiri Bus Entrepreneurs’ Committee, accused the local administration of granting registration to the ‘non transport entrepreneurs’ body’, while local police administration has charged the strike enforcers with trying to enforce the syndicate system.

Khandka also made it clear that they would continue with their strike unless the registration of the new transport entrepreneurs’ body is scrapped. He, however, said they will let ambulances, vehicles belonging to the press, diplomatic missions and other essential  providers ply on the road.
