Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao is scheduled to arrive Nepal in the first week of December. Deputy PM Shrestha is in China in the course of preparations for the Chinese Premiere´s visit to Nepal.
This is the first China visit by any senior Nepali government official after the formation of Maoist-led government under the leadership of Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai. Deputy PM Shrestha is scheduled to meet Chinese PM Wen Jiabao and Foreign Minister Yang Jeichi, according to Nepalese Embassy in China. An official, who is part of the nine-member delegation visiting China, said that the meeting will mainly set agendas for Jiabao´s Nepal visit.
Similarly, Shrestha will also meet the high profile leaders of the Chinese Communist Party and visit the Great Wall of China on Thursday.
Before flying to Beijing, Deputy PM Shrestha held a 45-minute discussion with Tibet government head Choling at Foreign Affairs Department in Lhasa.
During the meeting, Choling assured the Nepali delegation of easy distribution of food in the districts adjoining Tibet. As per the policy of providing food assistance to 15 different districts in northern Nepal for five years, Tibet has been providing Rs 370 million (or 30 lakhs Yuan) worth of food to 10 districts, out of the 15, every year.
In response to the Nepali delegation´s request for extending the roads leading up to the important Tibetan border-points with Nepal, the Tibet government assured to hold discussion with Beijing, informed Dadhiram Bhandari, Nepal´s acting Consul General in Lhasa.
Nepali team also held discussion on trade, tourism, promotion of investment including other issues of mutual interest with the head of Tibet government. Minister Shrestha reiterated Nepal´s commitment to ´One China Policy´.
Nepali Food Festival 2018 kicked off in Beijing
