BHAKTAPUR, Jan 2: Minister for Energy, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has honoured democracy fighters on Sunday.

Minister Dr Mahat honoured Thir Kumar Karki, Krishna Bahadur Thakuri, Balram Thapa, Govinda Joshi and Radhe Shyam Jonchhe at a program organized by Nepal Tarun Dal, Bhaktapur Chapter on the occasion of the Martyrs Day. The honored persons had spent long time in jail for democracy.

Minister Dr Mahat claimed that the new government will be led by the Nepali Congress, and for this, the party could change the prime ministerial candidate if the UCPN-Maoist wanted so.

He further claimed Congress-led government reasoning that the Maoist-led government will create suspicion among the public while CPN-UML has been unable to reach the process and constitution-writing in conclusion.

Also a leader of Nepali Congress, Minister Mahat said if there is the possibility that Nepali Congress would lead the government with the support of the Maoist, the Congress should move ahead for consensus with the Maoist.

However, he accused the Maoist of trying to impose single-party rule even after the abolishment of the monarchy.
