KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Four different Kirant organizations have demanded that the government declare Yalambar, the first Kiranti king who ruled Nepal for ages after conquering the Gopal dynasty, a national luminary.

Presenting the Kirant Yele Sambat Declaration-2009 endorsed by a two-day international conference organized by four different Kirant communities, Bairagi Kainla, coordinator of the program, said on Monday, “We could believe that the country equally belongs to us if our first king is conferred with the honor of a national luminary.”

Also, the two-day conference has put forth the demand for incorporating Yele Sambat, the lunar calendar used by all Kirant communities, in the new constitution.
