The Home Ministry on Sunday had produced the identity card recovered from a body in Dudejhari that identified the dead as Narendra BK. The card had a registration number of 3682 and photo number DSC 00796. The Home Ministry had said that BK was a member of the PLA and belonged to a cantonment monitored by United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN). [break]

Why are we alive?
But on Monday, the PLA´s sixth division commander Mahendra Bahadur Shahi not only produced one Narendra BK, identifying him as section vice commander of the division with registration number 3795, but also produced another person who holds the identity card with registration number 3682. The latter was identified as Rudra Prasad Chapai of Satakhani-5, Surkhet, who is section commander of the division´s Jit Smriti brigade.
During the press conference, BK expressed astonishment over the news of his own death. “The reports are close about my name, address and station. But reports about my death is totally wrong,” he said, adding, “I am fully alive and kicking.”
Meanwhile, Shahi charged that the government had produced a fake identity card with the intention of defaming the PLA. “An investigation has to be conducted to find out the motives behind this conspiracy,” he said.
Interestingly, the name Narendra BK was included by the Maoists as well on a list they had produced of those dead in the Kailali incident.
On Sunday, UNMIN spokesperson Kosmos Bishwokarma had told Republica that the mission has found several people with the name Narendra BK.
“UNMIN is still investigating. Preliminary report shows that there are several people of that name, but no one has the same registration number [3682] in UNMIN´s record on registration and verification of the Maoist combatants,” he had told myrepublica.
