“If the conspiracy to disrupt the peace process and constitution drafting prevails even after May Day, the 30 million people of Nepal would rise up,” said Dahal at a rally organized in Kathmandu to mark the 21st anniversary of the People´s Movement. [break]
Dahal´s views come at a time when the party has officially endorsed the political line of ´people´s revolt´ to achieve revolutionary goals and a ´people´s constitution´.
He reiterated that those opposed to socio-political change in the country are hatching a conspiracy to derail the peace process and argued that the series of explosions in the southern plain are part of that conspiracy. “There are also plans to set off a series of explosives in Kathamndu. There is a smell of the south behind these incidents,” he said, indirectly blaming India for masterminding the explosions to create political instability in the country.
He argued that ´conspirators´ have not only been masterminding explosions, but are also trying to bring a new person onto the throne and revive the monarchy.
The former rebel leader praised the Nepal Army (NA) for being ´positive´ towards integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants. “The army has become positive about the peace process, something the conspirators don´t like,” he said.
The Maoist chairman argued that the Nepali peace process should be based on a unique model appropriate to the country.

He said that his party is sincere about constitution drafting and that was the reason he agreed to hold the position of coordinator of the subcommittee under the CA Constitutional Committee (CC).
He said the contentious issues have been substantially reduced, but expressed concern that major issues including state restructuring are yet to be settled
