According to sources, the leaders during the one-on-one talks discussed the latest political development and the issue of Maoist participation in the government.[break]
“The two leaders agreed that the Maoist party should play a role to give a national unity character to the current government,” said the sources.
The leaders also agreed that their party should take a role to remove the existing mistrust among the political parties to conclude the peace process and constitution in time.
It may be recalled that the relations between the two leaders have soured over the party´s prime ministerial candidate. Bhattarai has accused Dahal of lending support to the CPN-UML in the prime ministerial election to effectively prevent him from becoming prime minister, while Dahal argued that he decided to support Prime minister Jhalanath Khanal as the latter is a “true nationalist.”
