The basketball tournament will see participation of 12 teams each in boy´s and girl´s section. Niten Memorial School is the defending champions of both boy´s and girl´s basketball events. [break]
Junior boy´s football will also be participated by 12 teams. Brihaspati Vidhya Sadan is the defending champion. To compete in football competition player must be below 5ft, U-12 year´s age and of student below grade five. All events will be held under league cum knockout format. The finals of the 10-day long event will be held on February 24.
Sherpa fixes final with MMC
BARA: Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club fixed the final date against Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club in the Magic Moments Fourth Simara Gold Cup Football Tournament being held in Simara, Bara. Sherpa defeated CMG Club Sankata 2-1 in extra time on Thursday during second semifinal match that saw sending off of Sherpa defender Sachindra Dhimal four minutes before the end of extra time. Ganesh Khadka scored the decisive goal in the 100th minute following 1-1 tie during the regulation time.
Khadka, recently axed from the training of national squad scored in pass of Jangbu Sherpa. Earlier, Sherpa had taken 56th minute lead through Dhiraj Tamang utilizing pass from Rupesh KC. But Ud Gurung equalized the match nine minutes before the end of regulation time extending the match to extra half an hour. Gurung netted in pass of Ibrahim Olusda. Rupesh KC of winning team was awarded the man-of-the-match. The final match will be played on Saturday.
