A patrolling team of police came under firing from a gang at Dariyabasti at Biratnagar-20.
According to Area Police Office, Rani, the dacoits opened fire on the police upon knowing that the security personnel blocked their way. In reply, the police also fired four rounds of bullets.
Both the sides exchanged fire for nearly half an hour. Giving in to police resistance, the dacoits later fled toward India.
