Curfew reimposed in Simara after fresh clashes

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: The District Administration Office (DAO), Bara, reimposed a curfew in Simara on Thursday after renewed clashes between CPN-UML cadres and Gen-Z activists near Simara Airport. The curfew came into effect from 1 PM and will remain in force till 8 PM, as per the DAO, Bara. 



Tensions had first flared on Wednesday following reports of UML leader Mahesh Basnet’s planned arrival.

A curfew was initially enforced on Wednesday afternoon, but unrest resumed soon after it was lifted on Thursday.


Meanwhile, police have arrested two UML ward chairpersons—Dhan Bahadur Shrestha of Jeetpursimara-2 and Kaimoddin Ansari of ward 6—on charges of assaulting Gen-Z youths during the clashes.
