Crowd-up to pay tribute to statesman Bhattarai

KATHMANDU, March 5: There is a huge crowd of leaders and cadres of the Nepali Congress and other political parties, government officials, general public and well-wishers to pay floral tribute to the founder leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) and former Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai at his Ashram in Bandegaun of Lalitpur.



Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari after paying tribute to his mortal body said saint leader Bhattarai was the icon of democratic movements of Nepal. [break]



His contribution to the democratic movements waged in different stages of nation´s life was ever-remembering and great.



Similarly, Chairperson of Constituent Assembly (CA), Constitutional Committee, Nilambar Acharya termed veteran leader Bhattarai as synonym to democracy, adding that the path shown by Bhattarai to establish people as sovereign power should be followed by the political forces.



He should be recognized as a great leader with capacity to give leadership to the party and country in a difficult crisis.



Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, parliamentary party leader Ram Chandra Poudel including senior leaders are in the Ashram.



Thousands of well-wishers are lining up in the Ashram to pay tribute to veteran democratic leader Bhttarai.



Hymns are being performed in the Ashram wishing for the eternal peace of his departed soul.



The mortal body of Bhattarai will be kept here during the day on Saturday and final rites will be performed after final tribute paying programme at Dasharath Stadium on Sunday.
