Cricket team to leave India on Sunday

KATHMANDU, May 29: Nepal national cricket team is all set to leave for India on Sunday for the closed camp training and visa process of Ireland and Scotland. Nepal is scheduled to play ICC World Twenty20 Qualifiers slated for July 9 to 26 in Ireland and Scotland. Nepal will also play two List A matches of ICC World Cricket League Championship against Scotland on July 29 and 31.

According to Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Acting General Secretary Uttam Karmacharya, Nepali team will leave for Delhi on Sunday for Visa process and then move to Dharamshala of Himachal Pradesh for closed camp training on Friday (June 5)."Nepali team will be in closed camp training at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association and will return on May 20," said Karmacharya.

CAN has announced a 22-member squad for the Qualifiers and Championship and the final squad is expected to be announced in last week of the June.

Nepal is also scheduled to visit England and the Netherlands for further training and play practice matches before the Qualifiers. Nepal is expected to play three T20I matches against Netherlands.

Meanwhile, team coach Pubudu Dassanayake who is currently in his home country Canada will join the team on June 3. He informed that Nepal will play four practice matches in Dharamshala. He added that Dharamshala would be an ideal place for training since the condition of Ireland was similar to that of Dharamsala.

"Basically we have to start from the scratch, building up fitness to skills. Later we have to get adjust to the host countries' conditions. We will mainly focus on training and play four games at the end," Dassanayake said.
