Substitute Santosh Sahukhala scored the lone goal five minutes from time for visitors which achieved first victory from three matches played so far in ASEAN countries. Sahukhala had come in the ground as a 51st minute replacement of Bhola Silwal.[break]
Earlier, Nepal was defeated 4-0 by Philippines national team on October 11 and 2-0 by Malaysian U-23 on October 15. Nepali team, also scheduled to play one match each against U-23 team and national team of Thailand on October 31 and November 3 respectively, is returning home on Sunday as the matches have been cancelled due to flood in Bangkok.
Nepali team is on a month long ASEAN tour as part of its preparation for the upcoming SAFF Championship to be held from December 1-15 in New Delhi, India, and the final round of AFC Challenge Cup to be held in Nepal in March 2012.
According to football portal goalnepal.com, Nepal dominated the match from start to the end and created frequent chances. Nepali strikers Jumanu Rai and Bharat Khawas squandered a couple of scoring chances each.
Meanwhile, players of the national team will not feature in the Safal Pokhara Cup to be held from November 8 to 19 in Pokhara, Kaski. According to All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Vice President and Spokesperson Lalit Krishna Shrestha, players will not be sent for the Safal Cup in view of the approaching SAFF Championship.
"SAFF Championship is vital tournament for us and now there isn´t much time left to prepare for it. The national team will undergo close camp training for the event," Shrestha told Republica.
Earlier, Kaski District Football Association, the organizer of Safal Cup had sent a request to ANFA to let the national players participate in the tournament.
