The meeting comes a day after the state head asked the prime minister to bring ordinances only after forging political consensus. The government is preparing to introduce ordinances regarding filling up the vacant posts of justices at the apex court and various positions at different constitutional bodies.[break]
Exiting from today’s meeting, CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal said the president stated that it has been a matter of shame for political parties not to be able reach an understanding till now.
In the meeting, the leaders reiterated that all contentious issues, including the leadership of the consensus government, should be dealt in a package agreement. There is now only two days remaining before the extended deadline given by the president to the parties for formation of consensus government, expires.
UML Chairman Khanal, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala, and United Democratic Madhesi Front Co-ordinator Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, among others, were present in the meeting.
