Congress not against federalism: General Secretary

LALITPUR, April 7: General Secretary of Nepali Congress (NC) Prakash Man Singh has clarified that his party is not against federalism.



Inaugurating a program in Lalitpur ON Thursday he said it is necessary to have a scientific division of the federal states based on political consensus.[break]



Singh also ruled out the claims made by the Unified CPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML saying that NC is against the federalism.



He said NC is still firm on forming a state restructuring commission comprising experts for the division of the federal states on the basis of geography, ethnicity and economic viability.



The NC leader added that new constitution should not be promulgated until peace process was taken to its logical conclusion after managing the PLA combatants and arms.
