Cold wave claims one each in Parsa, Mahottari

PARSA, Jan 4: One person died of cold wave, that has been affected daily public life here since the past few days.



Singh Raut, 60, of Birgunj Sub-metropolis-18 died of cold.



Birgunj has been experiencing heavy fog and cold wave since the past few days. Very few vehicles are seen plying on the streets of the district headquarters.



The affect of the cold wave has also seen on the educational institutions. Schools have begun closing down automatically after the number of students arrival declined due to cold, the District Education Office, Parsa said.



Likewise, the number of people visiting the Narayani Zonal Hospital with cold-related problems is also on the rise, the hospital sources said.



Meanwhile, in Mahottari, intense cold claimed one more life Monday morning in Mahottari, taking the death toll to five in the district.



The deceased is identified as seven-year-old Pravin Kumar Sada, the son of Bideshi Sada of Banauta VDC-9 in the district.



A local, Lokhentra Mahato, said the child suddenly fell down while he was playing on the road at 7:30 a.m. and died on the spot.



He said harsh cold has gripped the district for the past one week, adding that many elders and children have fallen ill.
